LOCATION & how to get to Amorgos
Amorgos does not have an airport but is easily reached with daily ferries and high speed vessels. Athens International Airport (ATH) is the most convenient to arrive (or Santorini) via international flights. It is suggested you arrive one day earlier and catch an overnight ferry or an early morning ferry the next day.
Ferries dock/arrive alternately at the two ports of Amorgos Island: Katapola and Aegiali (closest to the hotel). Amorgos ports can be reached with high speed vessels departing from Piraeus and Rafina ports (both are Athens based). Vessels like Seajet Superjet and Hellenic Seaways deliver services to Amorgos. You can also travel by ferry from Santorini which is only a 90 minute ride (Santorini has an international airport). We recommend comparing/booking ferries via your travel agent or the SEAJETS website.
You can also arrive and transfer from other islands such as Santorini, Paros, Naxos, Milos, or Mykonos. Please research ferry/jet schedules before booking flights. Ferry schedules are normally due to be updated around late January 2022. Catching a ferry from another island is generally much faster than those from Athens, purely because Athens is a much further distance. But Athens may well be more convenient for you with your itinerary.
Consider you could arrive to Amorgos from a particular location (e.g. Athens), and catch a ferry after the retreat to another destination (eg. Milos) should you wish and have time to!
There are multiple options for travelling from Athens International Airport to Pireaus Port – Metro, Taxi (45-60 mins drive away), Express Bus (X96 – subject to change), or private booked transfer. However, again it is recommended, depending on ferry times, to arrive a day prior. In which case you’d be travelling from Athens city potentially. More information can be provided upon your booking.

YOGA RETREAT FAQ
After practicing yoga for almost two decades, and teaching for over one, the way I teach students has naturally grown and varied over the years. In a studio, I’ve been required to teach Vinyasa, traditional Vinyasa Krama, Iyengar inspired, Purna, Restorative, Yin, traditional Hatha, and more.
On retreat, you’ll experience a thoughtfully curated schedule of classes with consideration to the Ayurvedic doshic influences, the climate, time of day, season, and general overall experience of the retreat group. Sometimes I’ll weave in mini workshop style sessions mid morning, or a Yoga Nidra in the late afternoon.
You can expect daily asana and pranayama. At the moment I’m teaching mostly traditional Hatha Yoga, based on the teachings of Kriya Yoga (Vinyasa Krama) and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika (Lunar, Solar, and Fire sequences).
Firstly, Amorgos has never had a case of COVID-19 on the island, which is wonderful news!
You are bound by any laws and restrictions on travel imposed by your state, territory, and country. You are responsible for knowing what these are as they vary for all and are subject to change at any time.
You may be required to be vaccinated. You may be required to quarantine on arrival back to your home or origin country. You may be required to travel with a COVID-19 vaccination passport or evidence of your vaccination status. You may be required to wear a mask during travel and transit to/from Greece.
Please check restrictions and rules with your airline/s, and any pre/post retreat accomodation providers.
It is advised you obtain adequate travel insurance with COVID cover immediately upon booking your place on the retreat.
There will occasionally be an early bird price on offer for the retreat until a set and specific date. There are no other discounts or concessions available.
On the very rare occasion, if there is a major change in exchange rates, you may be required to make a supplemental payment. This payment is to cover costs, and I – Amy Landry – do not receive any of this.
Yes, absolutely. It is advised you obtain adequate travel insurance with COVID cover immediately upon booking your place on the retreat.
There are many providers out there. Be sure to check the fine print, the details of your policy, and what your policy DOES NOT cover. Some recommended Australian companies are: Travel Insurance Direct, Aussie Travel Cover, QBE, and 1 Cover. Be sure to be covered for repatriation should you need to return home due to emergency. Some insurance providers do not cover for airline insolvency nor epidemics or pandemics. You may be required by law to travel with a policy that contains COVID coverage. You are responsible for your own travel insurance and the policy you decide to purchase.
Vegetarian, Vegan, and gluten-free options can and will be catered for (if you have provided your dietary needs upon booking). Please share your dietary needs in advance, prior to the commencement of the retreat, to ensure you’re taken care of. Much of the food will be local Greek cuisine and many ingredients organically grown on site.
Absolutely. All yoga classes offered can be adapted to all levels of experience. The retreat will host participants of all levels and of various styles/approaches to yoga. It’s a perfect opportunity for you to learn in a supportive, safe, and relaxed environment. You will certainly be taken care of. You’re welcome to rest and modify at any time also.
If you would like your partner to join they are absolutely welcome – please notify us upon booking. The same rates still apply whether they chose to participate fully in the retreat program or not. Let us know what your bedding preference is (twin or queen). Two deposits are required to confirm both places. The retreat program itself is for adults only. Your children can certainly accompany you to the retreat as it is a hotel. This means you’ll need to book a larger room and also cover the cost of meals/hotel charges for any children. Yoga sessions are for adults only. Please enquire if you have a child 16+ whom you’d like to join the yoga sessions as we may be able to accommodate this.
Please bring a yoga mat (there are also very basic rubber mats for use at the hotel if you prefer), a reusable water bottle (to refill with filtered water), sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, insect repellant, cool comfortable yoga clothing, light layers for early morning yoga, any essential medication, fave toiletries, a book to read, your camera, notebook/journal (if that’s your thing), swimwear, cash currency, your credit card, an ATM card (be sure to tell your bank you’re going away so they don’t block your access), a print out of your Travel Insurance policy, and a passport with 6 months validity minimum.
Being located in the Mediterranean, Amorgos has very nice weather and lots of sunshine most of the year round. Summers are very long and the weather gets really nice and hot, so bring your swimwear, hat, and sunscreen! Warm weather can start relatively early anywhere from mid April and end mid October. Pack light!
You’ll have leisure time daily… this is a retreat after all and it’s important you have space to rest, or sightsee, or whatever takes your fancy. Immerse in a cooking demonstration of local Grecian delights, hiking adventures, scuba diving, Greek dance lessons, organic garden/herb/distillery tour, wine tasting, geocaching, or an icon painting demonstration.
