General
At this time, I rarely do sponsored social media posts. I am only willing to consider this if I have tried, used, and loved your product or service. My views I express online must be genuine and with integrity. Therefore I will not promote your product or service without having tried AND truly loved it. I value all things sincerely natural, plant based, ethical, and environmentally sustainable. If you believe you have something to chat about which genuinely ticks these boxes, then feel free to reach out. I generally do not interview anyone who I do not have an existing relationship. My approach is to interview people that have made a distinct impact on my life, have inspired me in some way, or teach something I personally find unique and very valuable. If we do not have an established relationship, the likely answer will be no. Please do not be offended if I do not reply to your email in this case, as it’s purely to conserve my time online. I appreciate your understanding. At this time I’m not offering free services. Please contact me via email and do let me know the details for your event – date, time, any travel info, and renumeration. If it’s a great fit and I’m available, I would be honoured to participate. Please read my blog posts HERE and HERE. You can also consider my mentorship program as a perfect support system for when you’ve completed your training. Look for a training with genuine senior teachers (that means a teaching faculty that EACH have 20+ years experience individually, not collectively). Doing a cheaper course will definitely leave you needing to quickly do more study and therefore spend more money after your training is done. Also consider that a teacher training is the most profitable way a studio or group of collaborating teachers can make money. That’s why we have so many trainings being pumped out. Look for a training with genuine senior teachers (that means a teaching faculty that EACH have 20+ years TEACHING experience individually, not collectively). Recommended: Yoga Arts (Bali and online), The Practice (Bali and online), Brad Hay (Australia and online), and Para Yoga – Yogarupa Rod Stryker (online and USA).

Whilst there have been many over the years. the most influential within the context of yoga specifically are: Elena Brower, Louisa Sear, Rose Baudin, Clive Sheridan, and Srivatsa Ramaswami.
Ayurveda
Firstly, you need to understand if you want to study Ayurveda to pursue it in a practitioner and clinical context? Or, to simply enhance your own life and studies? Most courses out there are not practitioner trainings and therefore do not qualify you to teach Ayurveda or share it in any way (e.g. as a yoga teacher). If you’re not insured as an Ayurvedic Practitioner, you should not be teaching it in any professional setting – classes, retreats, etc. It is a health modality to be respected – especially those whom have invested the years and finances into deep study (e.g a diploma or advanced diploma). If you’re not intending to share Ayurveda in any professional context, you can do any certificate course out there. For professional, practitioner, and clinical trainings, look for a diploma or advanced diploma. Look into studying with Dr Vasant Lad, Dr David Frawley, Maya Tiwari, or Todd Caldecott. For recommended reading, look to anything by: Dr Robert Svoboda, Dr Vasant Lad, Dr David Frawley, Maya Tiwari, or the beautiful book Sattva by Emine Rushton. At times, yes. Although it is not a main part of my professional work at the moment. Please see details on my Ayurveda page. Alternatively, I can sometimes offer a recommendation to another qualified practitioner in my area, or in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, or Perth. You can explore my Yoga For The Doshas online series here. Yoga For Your Type, by Dr David Frawley, is another great resources – especially for teachers and practitioners with a assumed level of knowledge.

Odissi
Absolutely. Please ensure you have contacted me and completed an online registration before attending class so I can understand any injuries, concerns, or limitations you believe you may have. The class is open to new students at all times, and with consistent attendance you will pick up the steps well. I am there to offer corrections and guidance whenever needed. Sometimes having no dance experience can be a blessing, as for those with a dance background in different styles can find it challenging to change how they move their body! Whilst any backgrounded of dance, martial arts, or yoga asana is helpful, it is not required. Odissi is a strong and intricate practice with many layers. At a foundational level we work with warm up exercises and basic stepping exercises. Within these, we place initial emphasise on just the leg/foot and arm movements. Eventually we layer this with body, head, and eye movements when the student is ready. There is a strong demand on the legs, which is developed slowly over time with regular weekly practice. We are all working on improving, no matter the level of experience. It’s a dance that can take lifetimes to master! Please do contact Amy if you have any major injury – especially anything new or reoccurring. Major knee concerns can be a limitation and something to be mindful of. But we can work to support you in learning as safely as possible with modifications where possible. You will dance in bare feet – no socks. Please dress modestly. If you have Indian Kurta and leggings or Salwar Kameez, please wear this. Cotton is best. Otherwise, please wear fitted block coloured leggings – full length or below the knee. On top, anything you wish that is not too loose. Can have sleeves or no sleeves. But please keep your chest area covered/modest. This is a traditional and classical art form, not at all “sexy”. Jewellery is fine. A filled water bottle, notebook and pen, and cash or card for class payment.
